Italian Laborers Union is established.
April 30, 1904
(April) Founded by Domenic D’Alessandro, it initially remains separate from the Boston Central Labor Union. Its purpose is to combat the exploitation of Italian immigrants by padroni – labor agents hired by construction companies to recruit cheap, manual labor. The union subsequently receives its charter om the AFL, joins the Central Labor Union, and grows quickly.
